For years, I was told my symptoms were normal. I didn't feel normal.

I'm a woman, a mother, and a doctorally prepared clinician with nearly two decades of experience.  I knew the terminology, which questions to ask, and I still left my own appointments feeling unheard, holding a prescription for something I hadn't asked about, or told to come back if things got worse.

If it was that hard for me, I kept thinking, what is it like for everyone else?

That question is why Fine + Fettle Health exists.

Perimenopause and menopause affect nearly every system in a woman’s body.  The effects impact sleep, mood, memory, metabolism, joints, libido, heart, bone and muscle mass. Most women get about twelve minutes to explain all of it, to a provider who received very little training in any of it.  So it gets attributed to stress, aging, or anxiety.  The result is often vague recommendations and no real path or plan to feeling like yourself again.  Meanwhile, the years when treatment does the most good quietly pass by.

I refuse to accept that, in my own care or in the care of the women sitting across from me. Advocacy isn't a value I put on a website. It's what the appointment is actually made of. It means telling you what the research supports and where it's genuinely uncertain, instead of hiding behind vague answers and ‘normal’ labs.  And it means believing you the first time you tell me something is wrong.

I built this practice to work the way I always wished my own care had. Appointments are long enough to hear the whole story. Labs are reviewed with you, not sent to a portal without explanation. You see me at every visit, not whoever happens to be available, so you never have to start over or re-explain your history. And if something isn't working between visits, you can reach me. Members are never charged extra for additional appointments or check-ins.

You know your body. My job is to take that seriously, and to help you do something about it.

Why We Exist

For all of history, medical research has been conducted on men and applied to women — as though we were smaller, more emotional versions of them. The gap that created is measurable: the NIH spends roughly $50 billion a year, less than 10% of it on women's health, and less than 1% on menopause.

Women live with the consequences. More than 70% of women in perimenopause report anxiety, mood swings, difficulty focusing, weight gain around the middle, low libido, and fatigue — and are statistically more likely to be handed an antidepressant than a conversation about their hormones. Dismissed symptoms and vague answers have become the norm.

We exist to change that. The hormonal shifts that begin in perimenopause affect nearly every organ and tissue in the body, and acting early reduces the risk of heart disease, dementia, osteoporosis, and age-related muscle loss. This is not just about adding years — it's about the quality of the ones you have.

Fine + Fettle was built on the belief that health is more than the absence of disease. It's resilience. It's vibrancy. It's being in good health and high spirits. We practice medicine that listens first, acts early, and treats your experience as evidence.

Women's health, optimized.
